In our studio we find a clear, inspiring and informative brief provides the structure and direction for our photographers and crew to produce their best work. It serves as a communication tool between a client and a photographer, ensuring that both parties are on the same page regarding the project’s expectations and outcomes. It minimises misunderstandings and ensures a successful collaboration.
The contents of a photography brief can vary depending on the nature of the project, but generally, it includes these ten essentials below.
A brief description of the project’s purpose and goals, the intended use of the photos, any specific concepts, themes, or emotions the client wants the photos to convey.
1. Set your Objectives
A detailed explanation of the types and number of photographs required, the locations and the expected duration of the photography session or project.
2. Scope your Work
The start and end dates of the project and any specific milestones for delivering different sets of photos or video.
3. Include Timelines and Deadlines
A clear list of the final deliverables expected from the photographer, the file format, resolution, and any other technical requirements.
